Translation - Explanation and Caution

The County of Lanark is offering text and website translation services provided by Google Translate™, a free service currently offering over 50 languages. Our goal is to assist English as a Second Language (ESL) users with a way to understand the programs, services, and information provided by Lanark County.

You agree that when a translation is complete, you assume the risk of any inaccuracies, errors, and omissions therein. You agree that the County of Lanark shall NOT be held responsible or liable for any damages or losses that may result from your reliance upon or use of Google Translate™.

Committees of Council

Council operates under a Committee of the Whole Structure whereby Community Development and Public Works committee meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month and Community Services and Corporate Services are held the second Wednesday of each month at 5pm, with Council sitting the fourth Wednesday at 7pm. Community Development provides services promoting economic development and tourism. Economic Development includes:

Public Works

The Public Works Department builds, operates, maintains and repairs the County road network consisting of 567 two-lane kilometres of roads and 77 bridge and culvert structures with spans greater than three metres. The Department also manages three patrol yards, three gravel pits, the County 5n waste site and one office building. The public works fleet includes approximately 30 vehicles including light and heavy trucks, heavy equipment, trailers and various tools and equipment. The Department is organized into four divisions:

Social Services

The Social Services Department provides a diverse range of Community and Human Services, which are responsive to the unique and changing needs of our community in accordance with the requirements set out by the Ministries of Community and Social Services, Health and Long-Term Care, Municipal Affairs and Housing and the Service Agreements thereof. The Department is organized into four Divisions:

  • 100 % Funded Programs
  • Adult Protective Services
  • Homeless Initiative
  • Consolidated Verification Program (CVP)
  • Enhanced Family Support Initiative (EFSI)

Long Term Care

Lanark Lodge operates under the Homes for the Aged and Rest Homes Act of Ontario and its regulations, and is funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care pursuant to this Act. The purpose of this facility is to provide long-term care services in accordance with the requirements set out by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the Service Agreements thereof.

Corporate Services

The Corporate Services Department provides a diverse range of services primarily to the Corporation as a whole and to the departments within the Corporation. Support and expertise are provided in areas such as Information Technology, Finance, Legal, Human Resources Management, Records Management, Purchasing, Risk and Insurance Management, Realty Services, Communications, Printing, Photocopying and Mail Distribution. The Department is organized into five (5) divisions:
