Renovate Lanark - Homeowner Repairs  Lanark County offers financial assistance to allow low to moderate income homeowners to conduct mandatory home repairs that will allow for the continued safe occupancy of their home.  The program helps people who live in substandard dwellings and cannot afford to pay for the necessary repairs to their home.

The Rent Support Program is a government initiative that helps low income households offset their high shelter costs by providing a monthly rent subsidy. more...


This program assists people experiencing homelessness to obtain or retain housing or those at risk of homelessness to remain housed.  Applicants must meet eligibility criteria; applicants are eligible for $500 once per calendar year; funds are issued directly to a company/landlord.service provider to assist with the necessary function.  For example, utility arrears, last months’ rent for mandatory moves, hoarding/bedbug clean up.


Since March 1, 2002 Lanark County has been providing the administrative and financial support for social housing providers.

There are approximately 840 social housing units in Lanark County and the Town of Smiths Falls. This number includes 532 public housing units, 200 non-profit housing units and 105 rent supplement units and other housing programs.

Housing units vary in size from one-bedroom apartments to five-bedroom townhouses. Some units are accessible for the physically disabled.

Social Housing units are located in Almonte, Carleton Place, Clayton, Perth, Pakenham and Smiths Falls.
