SUMMARY:Fairy Baskets + Cordage Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Learn to weave a “fairy basket” made from willow bark\, garden leaves and other natural materials. This is a beginner level workshop that will introduce you to fundamental weaving techniques and material preparation\, no prior weaving experience is required. \nIn this full day class\, participants will have time to create two small baskets (2-3”) or one larger vessel (4-5”) in a design of their choosing. SUMMARY:Bird Exhibit + Open House
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an afternoon celebrating the 10th Anniversary opening of the museum\, featuring Ankaret Dean’s Bird exhibition! \nThis exhibition will include baskets that Ankaret has made over several years and many new ones too. She finds using natural materials ideal for making birds using basketry techniques. Lately\, she’s used a combination of wire – used for trellising grapes – for her smaller birds\, as wire is more pliable for making smaller birds and coloured round reed. \nAnkaret has started making birds while living on the farm in Elphin\, they’ve been flying in her house ever since. \nWe hope to see you there! \nThe event is free. Tea and cookies will be served!
