As the story unfolds\, the unforgiving realities of his shattered life intertwine with Shakespeare’s radiant\, immortal text\, while the man teeters dangerously close to the brink. \nWritten and performed by Justin Hay\, known for his performance in the 2017 filmed adaptation “Richard III – Unto the Kingdom of Perpetual Night”\, the play draws on some of the greatest and most powerful passages from Shakespeare to ask: Is it possible to find peace with the impossible paradoxes of life? \n“My Own Private Shakespeare” has earned writer/performer Justin Hay critical and audience acclaim after successful runs in Toronto\, New York and the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe. A veteran of the stage and screen\, he trained at the Royal National Theatre in the UK. \nThe running time is approximately 55 minutes\, with no interval. Recommended for ages 14+. Each month a new artist graces the walls of MERA bringing their own unique energy and life to the space. Who says everyone else gets to have all the fun? This September\, the MERA Board of Directors is stepping out from behind their desks to showcase their own art. \nFor September’s Art Exhibit at Dean Hall\, we challenged our Board members to display their works. You can meet the artists / Board members at our Open House on Sunday\, September 14 from 11 am to 3 pm at the MERA Schoolhouse\, 974 Dalhousie Concession 9A\, McDonald’s Corners. \nThe show offers wide array of media\, from pottery\, acrylics\, jewelry\, stained glass\, woodwork\, and photography. This art show is on display until the end of September. \nYou are invited to join The MERA Board at the MERA Schoolhouse in McDonald’s Corners (974 Dalhousie Concession 9A) on Saturday September 14th\, 11am to 3pm to meet the artist\, view their works and purchase that “must have” piece.
