In Lanark County, the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) enables you to:
- protect your privacy as an individual when you provide personal information to institutions; and
- access records that are available to the public.
Accessing Records
If you’d like to access our records, please email Jasmin Ralph, Clerk.
We will let you know if we can release the information informally, or if you need to complete a formal access request. The majority of information held by Lanark County can be accessed through the normal release of information by front line staff, without using the Act.
Examples of this include:
- Answers to questions related to departmental operations,
- Agendas and minutes,
- By-laws
- Property related information
- Publications,
- Policies and procedures.
Further details regarding the release of information can be found in the Routine Disclosure and Active Dissemination Policy.
Submitting a Formal Request
A formal request for recorded information is a formal process to access records that are not routinely available. Unlike routine requests, formal requests must be made in writing. The request should provide sufficient detail to assist staff in locating/retrieving the records.
Please note that the Act provides that the County may charge a fee for certain limited costs of providing applicants with records. If there are costs involved in processing a formal request, the applicant will be provided with a fee estimate before the application is fully processed.
To make a formal request, complete the Freedom of Information Request Form and forward by mail to:

Accessibility
Lanark County is committed to providing a high level of service to members of the community. An integral element of this commitment is an effort to create an inclusive, accessible, barrier-free environment both at the County facilities and through our official website.
With our continued commitment to meet the requirements outlined in the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), we will provide, or arrange for the provision of, accessible formats and communication supports as it relates to information about our services or facilities.
You can request a document in another format by contacting Jasmin Ralph, Clerk.
To learn more about the barriers we have removed in the past, as well as those we are removing now to make our community more accessible, check out the resources below.
Do you have a question or concern regarding accessibility in Lanark County? Let us know how we can improve by submitting your comments to Jasmin Ralph, Clerk.
Accessibility Advisory Committee
Municipalities with 10,000 or more residents are required by the Ontarian’s with Disabilities Act to have an Accessibility Advisory Committee. The committee is comprised of community volunteers and Council representation. A staff working group provides input into the accessibility planning process.
The Accessibility Advisory Committee reports to the Corporate Services Committee of Lanark County Council.
We are currently recruiting members. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer member of the Accessibility Advisory Committee, please contact Jasmin Ralph.
