When you live at Lanark Lodge, you’ll receive the full time care you need while living in a comfortable home-like atmosphere. You will live in 1 of our 4 neighbourhoods, with Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses on duty 24 hours a day, as well as PSW’s to support your daily needs.

We understand that the decision to move into Long-Term Care is a very difficult one for everyone involved. We are here to help make the transition as seamless as possible for you and your loved ones.

About the Lodge

The Lodge is a municipal, not-for-profit, long-term care facility operated by the County of Lanark, and located on the border of the Town of Perth and Tay Valley Township.

There are 163 beds at Lanark Lodge across four resident care areas, called neighbourhoods:

  • Oakridge has 18 residents (lower level A Wing)
  • Maples has 43 residents (lower level B Wing/Secure Wing)
  • Evergreens has 56 residents (upper level C Wing)
  • Honeysuckle Haven has 46 residents (upper level D Wing)

162 of these beds are long-stay beds, one is a respite bed.

Rates and Rooms

The Home has both basic and preferred accommodation (semi-private and private) and one respite room. Rates are set by the Ministry of Long-Term Care and may be adjusted annually. Basic accommodations could be subject to subsidies, where applicable. Semi-private and private room rates are the responsibility of the resident in full.

Two residents share a room and a washroom; there is a partial wall between sleeping areas.

FAQs

Who qualifies for Long-Term Care?
To apply for long-term care in Ontario, individuals must be 18 or older, have a valid Ontario Health Card, and have health care needs that cannot be adequately met at home or in the community. They must also need nursing care, assistance with daily living, supervision, or monitoring, and these needs must be able to be met in a long-term care home.

What's included?
The monthly rate includes:

  • accommodation

What can I bring?
Personal belongings like clothing, pictures, mementos, and small furnishings are encouraged in order to allow each resident to have their room feel like home.

Furnishings and personal electrical appliances must be approved by the Facilities Maintenance Department before going into the resident’s room.

For the safety and well-being of all residents in the Home, the below items are not permitted:

  • wall mounted televisions
  • personal items of significant value such as jewelry and sums of money
  • extension cords
  • personal refrigerators.

How is the room furnished?
All rooms are furnished with a bed, bedside table, and a closet.

Some of the rooms have a chair that you can use or replace with your own furniture if it fits with the following Lanark Lodge Furniture Policy.

What nutrition services do you offer?
A registered Dietitian will assess residents’ needs and plan a variety of meals and snacks with a three-week menu. Individualized menus are developed for each resident whose needs and preferences cannot be met through the Home’s standard menu cycle. Each meal offers a choice for the resident to select.

Guest dining is offered in private dining areas.

My day of admission is coming up--what documents do I need?
You will need:

  • Power of Attorney for both Personal Care & Property
  • Copy of the First Page of Will showing the Executor of the Estate
  • Copy of previous years’ Notice of Assessment from Canada Revenue Agency (for those in Basic Accommodation wanting a Rate Reduction)
  • A Void cheque for month accommodation fees to be paid electronically
  • A cheque or cash to open a Resident Trust Account.

If you have a spouse who will be remaining in the Community, consider applying for Involuntary Separation with Service Canada

What happens on the day of admission?
Upon your arrival you will meet with the administration staff to complete all financial paperwork.

Your clothing will be taken to the laundry to be labelled by the seamstress. We recommend having pajamas and a change of clothes in an overnight bag.

Once the financial paperwork is completed you will meet with nursing staff to get your medical information. After the completion of all paperwork you and 2 family members will then have lunch in your dining area, and then you can complete the set-up of your room.

Note: All the Power of Attorney’s (POA’s) must be present the day of admission to sign legal documents.
