Rural Transit Feasibility Study
Lanark County and the Town of Smiths Falls conducted a Rural Transit Feasibility Study to explore solutions for improving transit options in the region. The study assessed current transportation challenges, identify potential services, and develop strategies to enhance mobility for residents and visitors.
Excellent feedback was received from the community during the first and second public engagement phase of the project. The study and Council presentation can be found below:

Lanark County Transportation
Route Information:
- Lanark Highlands to Carleton Place (1st Tuesday of the month)
- Lanark Highlands to Perth (3rd Tuesday of the month)
- Carleton Place Shuttle (every Wednesday)
- Mississippi Mills to Almonte (1st and 3rd Thursday)
- Mississippi Mills to Carleton Place (2nd and 4th Thursday)
- Perth Shuttle (every Friday)

There are existing park and ride lots located at:
- County Road 17 (Cemetary Side Road)
- County Road 15 at Highway 7
- County Road 10 (Richmond Road) at Highway 15
- County Road 1 (Rideau Ferry Road) and County Road 21 (Elmgrove Road)
These lots are used primarily on weekdays for people commuting to work but also on weekends for people who park and then enjoy the recreational facilities in the County. Commuters also use informal locations throughout the County for parking.
