Lanark County hosting public drop-in events for Transportation Master Plan update

Thu Jun 11, 2026

Lanark County is undertaking an update of its current Transportation Master Plan (TMP) and is inviting the public to learn more and provide input to guide future transportation investments, policies and infrastructure planning across the county.

For the first round of public consultations, three information-sharing events are planned:
• Monday, June 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Conlon Farm Chalet, 125 Smith Drive, Perth
• Tuesday, June 16 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Beckwith Recreation Complex, 1319 9th Line Beckwith, Carleton Place
• Saturday, July 4 from 8 to 10 a.m., Carleton Place Farmers’ Market, 7 Beckwith St., Carleton Place

An online survey will be available starting June 15 to July 12, 2026 for those who are unable to attend the information sessions. The July 4 information session will also include information about the new roundabout to be constructed next summer on McNeely Avenue at Lake Avenue.

“Much has changed since the previous TMP in 2010,” said Director of Public Works Sean Derouin. “Since then, growth, travel patterns, and infrastructure demands have evolved, requiring an updated long-term strategy. The new plan will guide investment, address challenges, and support safe, efficient and equitable mobility for residents and visitors.”

The county has contracted Arcadis to do the study, which considers components of the transportation system under County jurisdiction and focuses on improving mobility for residents and visitors across all modes: walking, cycling, transit, driving and goods movement. The update will assess existing transportation, identify and prioritize improvements, develop a 25-year strategy for infrastructure and transportation services, provide direction for capital planning and investment, and align with key plans and policies, including the County’s Official Plan and Climate Action Plan.

“The updated TMP will build on the foundation while addressing current and future needs with an actionable plan that aligns with the County’s vision for the future,” Derouin added.

Public consultation and stakeholder engagement is planned through 2026, with plan completion expected in mid-2027. For more information and a list of frequently asked questions, please visit: www.lanarkcounty.ca/tmpupdate
