Transportation Master Plan Public Opinion Questionaire

Phase 1: Needs and Opportunities

Lanark County is developing a new Transportation Master Plan (TMP) to guide the County’s future transportation system, direct investment, address changes and challenges, and support safe, efficient and equitable mobility.

During this first phase of the TMP study, we are developing our understanding of transportation needs, issues and opportunities in the County. In later phases, we will share a draft plan that responds to the needs and issues that you will have helped identify.

This questionaire will be available June 15 to July 12, 2026.

Strategic Framework

The Vision describes the desired future for Lanark County’s transportation system. TMP outcomes will work toward achieving this.

Draft Vision: Lanark County strives for a safe and equitable transportation system that connects people, places and goods, supports and accommodates growth, enhances quality of life, and preserves its unique character for current and future generations.

Goals reflect priorities and desired outcomes, guiding study direction and supporting the assessment of transportation recommendations. Each Goal has a set of Objectives that identify what success looks like.

Goal 1 - Roadway Safety: Create a transportation system where all users are protected and safe from preventable harm.

Goal 2 - Sustainable Transportation: Provide comfortable, convenient and equitable alternatives to driving by expanding and enhancing
active and sustainable transportation options.

Goal 3 - Rural Access and Connectivity: Support rural communities by providing reliable transportation networks that support access, connectivity and economic activity while preserving rural character.

Goal 4 - Urban Mobility and Access: Enable vibrant, accessible and complete communities by providing a transportation system that meets the diverse needs of urban residents, visitors and businesses, and supports sustainable growth.

Road Needs Study

In parallel to the TMP study, a Road Needs Study is also underway for the following
corridors to respond to operational issues and safety concerns:
• County Road 11 (Wilson Street/River Road) – Appleton, Mississippi Mills
• County Road 10 (South Street) – Perth - Drummond/North Elmsley - Tay Valley
• County Road 36 (Maberly-Elphin Road) – Maberly, Tay Valley
