Business Retention & Expansion Project
Lanark County has launched the Business Retention and Expansion (BR&E) initiative, a proactive program designed to support local businesses and strengthen the region’s economic vitality.
This initiative focuses on helping businesses succeed by identifying opportunities for growth, addressing challenges, and supporting long-term investment within Lanark County.
Supporting Local Business Growth
Local businesses are a cornerstone of Lanark County’s economy. The BR&E initiative creates a structured approach to:
- Foster job creation and retention
- Support business expansion
- Identify and address immediate business needs
- Strengthen the overall economic health of the region
Research shows that the majority of new jobs are created by existing businesses. By working directly with local employers, the County can prioritize efforts that deliver meaningful impact.
How the Program Works
The first phase of the BR&E initiative involves a confidential business survey. This survey gathers valuable insights into:
- Current operations
- Future growth plans
- Opportunities for expansion
- Challenges impacting business success
Participation is flexible. Surveys can be completed:
- In-person
- By phone
- Via virtual meeting
All responses are strictly confidential, and findings are anonymized to ensure that no individual business can be identified.
Turning Insights into Action
Information gathered through the BR&E initiative will be used to develop a targeted Action Plan. This plan will:
- Identify key priorities for business support
- Inform decision-making on services and programs
- Guide future investments in infrastructure and economic development
The goal is to ensure Lanark County continues to be a competitive and supportive environment for businesses to operate and grow.
