Cartwright Springs Brewery, Pakenham (opened July 2015): André Rieux had been brewing beer at home for almost 20 years before opening this eco-friendly brewery in the scenic village of Pakenham.

Using water from a spring on the property, he brews nine different beers, including a maple porter. Conscious of the pristine rural environment, he worked with engineers to design an effluent treatment plant—one of the first craft breweries in Ontario to build such a facility.

At Dairy Distillery, innovation is at the heart of what they do. They’ve married artisanal distilling techniques with cutting edge science to transform unused milk sugar into an incredibly smooth and clean spirit. In doing so, they create new opportunity for dairy farmers while reducing waste.

Stalwart Brewing Company, Carleton Place : This brewery’s co-owners started learning about craft beer while waiting tables or bartending at fine restaurants. Now, less than a year after they opened their doors in a former garage, Stalwart’s beers are available in 34 restaurants in Eastern Ontario.

Investor John Criswick, who owns the Mercury Lounge bar in Ottawa, wanted to serve drinks made with his own custom-crafted spirits.

He worked with a group of Perth entrepreneurs to open Top Shelf, which makes vodka from a locally sourced corn base, a London Dry gin with juniper berries and grapefruit peel and moonshine from a “secret family recipe.”

In 2019, they added a spicy rye to their offerings.

Ugly Apple, a cider haven that celebrates the art of crafting crisp, refreshing hard cider from wild and overlooked apples. With a dedication to tradition, they press and ferment their cider without additives, delivering a dry, slightly funky taste that captures the essence of well-crafted cider.
