This page provides application details and updates for Official Plan Amendment (OPA) applications and Plan of Subdivision/Condominium applications currently open with Lanark County.

Once an application is made and deemed complete, initial application materials will be posted here.  As a file progresses through the review process, updated information will be posted here.

Open severance (consent) applications are not posted on this site.  You can speak directly with staff regarding any severance (consent) application using the contacts at the bottom of this page.  Information related to an application can be made available on request.

Similarly, local municipal OPAs that have been adopted by the local municipality and forwarded to the County, as the approval authority, are not listed here.  You can speak directly with staff regarding an adopted OPA that is before Lanark County, as the approval authority, using the contacts at the bottom of this page.

County Official Plan Amendments (OPA) – Open Applications

OPA #13 - Highland Line Pit
The Highland Line Pit Official Plan Amendment (OPA) seeks to change the designation for a parcel of land in Lot 5 Concession 10 Dalhousie in the Township of Lanark Highlands from ‘Rural’ to ‘Licensed Aggregate Extraction Operation’.  Concurrent and inter-related applications have been made to the Ministry for a Aggregate Resources Act (ARA) license as well as a Lanark Highlands OPA and Zoning By-law Amendment (ZBA).

As a part of the ARA license process the applicant maintains a project website that includes all application related materials, reports and studies submitted.  These materials informs both the ARA as well as the local OPA and ZBL applications. The website can be reviewed here: Application Website.

The Provincial Government is the review body for ARA applications.  The province assesses the technical merits of the application.  The following Ministry responses to the ARA application have been issued, which also inform the OPA review:

The County has not held the public meeting for the County OPA application yet.  A public meeting will be held once a public meeting and review process has been completed by Lanark Highlands for their OPA and ZBA, given the County’s additional role as the Approval Authority for local OPAs.

OPA #14 - McKinnon Pit Expansion
The McKinnon Pit Expansion Official Plan Amendment (OPA) seeks to change the designation for a parcel of land in Lot 5 Concession 10 Dalhousie in the Township of Lanark Highlands from ‘Rural’ to ‘Licensed Aggregate Extraction Operation’.  Concurrent and inter-related applications have been made to the Ministry for a Aggregate Resources Act (ARA) license as well as a Lanark Highlands OPA and Zoning By-law Amendment (ZBA).  The OPA relates to the expansion of an existing licensed Pit to incorporate new  adjacent lands.

 

As a part of the ARA license process the applicant maintains a project website that includes all application related materials, reports and studies submitted (see studies linked in Appendix of Summary Report).  These materials informs both the ARA as well as the local OPA and ZBL applications. OPA #15 - Cooney Pit

The Cooney Pit Official Plan Amendment (OPA) seeks to change the designation for a parcel of land in Part Lot 22 & 23 Concession 3 Darling in the Township of Lanark Highlands from ‘Rural’ to ‘Licensed Aggregate Extraction Operation’.  Concurrent and inter-related applications have been made to the Ministry for a Aggregate Resources Act (ARA) license as well as a Lanark Highlands OPA and Zoning By-law Amendment (ZBA).  The OPA relates to reestablishing an extraction operation on the lands, with the former Pit being known as the James Pit.
