In Lanark County, the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) enables you to:

  • protect your privacy as an individual when you provide personal information to institutions;
    and
  • access records that are available to the public.

How to access our records

If you'd like to access our records, please email Jasmin Ralph, Clerk. We will let you know if we can release the information informally, or if you need to complete a formal access request. The majority of information held by Lanark County can be accessed through the normal release of information by front line staff, without using the Act. Examples of this include: answers to questions related to departmental operations, agendas, minutes, bylaws, property related information, publications, policies and procedures.

Submitting a formal request

formal request for recorded information is a formal process to access records that are not routinely available. Unlike routine requests, the formal request must be made in writing. The request should provide sufficient detail to assist staff in locating/retrieving the records.

Formal requests for records should be forwarded by mail to:

FOI (Freedom of Information) Coordinator
County Clerk's Department
Attn: Jasmin Ralph
99 Christie Lake Road
Perth, ON K7H 3C6
Phone: 613-267-4200 ext. 1502
Fax: 613-267-2964

You should enclose a completed Freedom of Information Request Form.

Fees

The Act provides that the County may charge a fee for certain limited costs of providing applicants with records. If there are costs involved in processing a formal request, the applicant will be provided with a fee estimate before the application is fully processed.
