Targeted Emergency Child Care
Emergency licensed child care services are reserved exclusively for school aged children, ages 3.8 years or older, of essential service workers as identified on the Provincial List of Eligible Workers and who have no other child care alternatives.
- Eligible workers will be able to access emergency child care only on days that they are scheduled to work and/or require sleep time for overnight shifts.
- Eligible workers who have the option to work from home, are expected to exercise this option and are not eligible for emergency child care service on these days.
- Applicants are required to provide proof of employment as part of the application process to determine eligibility. Submitting an application for emergency child care services does not guarantee eligibility.
- Applicants will be contacted by a caseworker to confirm approval of their application. If approved, a copy of the eligible workers completed application form will be forwarded to the emergency licensed child care provider.

Note: Lunch is not included but snacks will be provided and if students are completing online learning they are responsible to bring a computer, as they will not be provided. Computers are the responsibility of the the student.
Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)
Lanark County is committed to doing everything in its ability to slow the spread of Covid-19. Our top priority is the health and safety of our clients, staff and community and we have implemented proactive measures to limit further transmission of the Coronavirus. While our programs continue to run; we may have altered the way we deliver them to you to align with Covid-19 Provincial legislation and Public Health Ontario guidelines.
All three of our Social Services offices are open to the public by appointment and for emergencies. Anyone that present at an office will be screened and required to wear a mask upon entry (Get Free Masks!). Secure drop boxes are available at each of our office locations.

Our programs are transitioning to “Talk-In” for 60- to 90-minute sessions to assist people with mental health concerns beginning April 27. People can call multiple times should they choose. As well, many local restaurants and businesses have food takeout and/or pick-up and delivery options. Check with your favourites. For the 2020-21 school year, due to impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have moved to “Grab and Go” programs with prepackaged food items that come at a substantially increased cost.
